John Taylor

john taylor:

A southern Virginia native, John as a child moved with his family to

the heart of the state's Blue Ridge Mountains and was quickly spoiled

by Madison County's trees, water, trails, and heritage.  He got used to

dirt roads that blazed right through creeks, rather than over them.

Now surrounded by bumper-to-bumper traffic and security fences in the

hectic Washington metro area, he misses the days of dips in the

Robinson River and breakfast with a view of Old Rag and Doubletop

mountains.

Since graduating from James Madison University in Virginia¢â¡Ás Shenandoah

Valley, John has worked at several newspapers, winning awards for his

sports stories, columns and page designs. He has since settled on the

copy and design desk at The Washington Times -- which fortunately has

windows facing the adjacent National Arboretum. He writes occasional

fantasy sports columns for the city's "other" daily newspaper while

also serving as the department's main motorsports correspondent, which

in 2003 took him on the road to the Poconos and North Carolina, the

heart of NASCAR country.

John lives with his coauthor, Kristen, and their often-too-curious cat,

Ramona, in Northern Virginia.
